Analysis of a Recent Aadhar card Data Breach: Lessons Learned

In January 2024, the Indian telecom industry was shaken by a massive data breach. A wide-scale attack on major telecom providers exposed about 1.8 terabytes of data, which consisted of around 750 million records and touched 85% of the Indian population. Names, mobile numbers, addresses, and probably Aadhaar information were leaked. Root Cause This was due to vulnerabilities in the data security systems of telecom service providers.
