 In January 2024, the Indian telecom industry was shaken by a massive data breach. A wide-scale attack on major telecom providers exposed about 1.8 terabytes of data, which consisted of around 750 million records and touched 85% of the Indian population. Names, mobile numbers, addresses, and probably Aadhaar information were leaked. Root Cause This was due to vulnerabilities in the data security systems of telecom service providers. Among these cyberhackers were CyboDevil and UNIT8200. Without permission, they accessed confidential information.
